Not only do I now have all my saves back, but it also downloaded my Guitar hero and Rockband 1 tracks (Which in the case of RB1 is a relief as I don't even have the disk anymore). This weekend I set about the task of using the Transfer utility on my 2nd slim (from my old 40GB) and it worked REALLY well. With this I should then be able to use the transfer utility to see what I could recover.Ī few days later I was going to Turkey on Business, and at the airport, in HMV they were doing the Assassins Creed 2 bundle (250GB) with NFS:Shift for £242. Since I was enjoying my old 40GB in the bedroom as a media streamer, I decided that perhaps I could buy another Slim. Then, out of the blue Firmware version 3.15 came out with its 'transfer' utility. I didn't have many of my saves, but I had done the hard work and downloaded most of my DLC again.
I then spent the next 3 weeks downloading all of my DLC and getting all the patches installed and I spoke to Sony who "unlocked" my Singstar tracks so that I could download them again onto my slim. But as much as I didn't like it, I accepted it and moved on. I repaired my 40GB using a hot air gun and it was working again, but I had lost my faith in it so bought a Slim.Īfter using the backup/restore utility I was disappointed (Although not surprised) that none of my DLC had restored, but more importantly, many of my important saves (Guitar Hero, Singstar, Rockband, Killzone, etc). In this time I had bought approx 15 Singstar tracks and I obviously wanted them back. I know that this should go in the Singstar section, but this is more about Sony and 'replacement' PS3s than Singstar.įor Christmas 2007 I bought myself a PS3 (40GB) and it lasted almost 2 years before developing a YLOD.
